Basic Medical Plan
As a PICS Direct Support Professional, you are eligible to participate in our American Worker plan. This benefit is available to all PICS employees and their dependents, and there is no minimum number of hours that you need to work each week in order to be eligible for the benefit.
- Visit any doctor or hospital
- Enrolled dependents receive the same coverage as you
- No pre-existing conditions exclusions or limitations
- Medical plan enrollees also receive these added benefits
- Added Benefit *Prescription Drug Card offering discounts at participating pharmacies
- Added Benefit *VSP Access Plan membership offering discounts on eye exams and prescription glasses at network doctors
American Worker provides the limited health insurance coverage many employees need?doctor visits, x-rays and lab work, prescription drugs and limited hospitalization. It's basic insurance at group rates with convenient bi-weekly premiums. American Worker isn't a major medical plan, but for employees who have no health insurance, it can be important coverage.
This is a voluntary program. That means you pay 100% of the premium cost, which is deducted from your paycheck each pay period. You can see any doctor you choose, but if you choose a doctor within the network, you can benefit from negotiated rates.
Enrollment is easy! Simply review the PICS Medical Plan Brochure, then follow the instructions on the Telephone Enrollment Sheet.
For your convenience, you will have access to The American Worker's national call center. The call center is staffed with customer service representatives who can assist you with questions concerning the benefits being offered or if you wish to enroll. The center is available Monday through Friday 8:30am - 7:00pm EST.
