Supplemental Insurance
If you work at least 20 hours a week as a PICS Direct Support Professional, you are eligible to participate in our voluntary Colonial Life Supplemental plans.
These plans are not designed to provide primary coverage to you - they are intended to enhance the coverage you already have in your current medical plan, so that you and your family can receive the most comprehensive and complete coverage possible. You choose which plans(s) best meet your needs.
Your premium will not be deducted from your paycheck each pay period. Instead, Colonial will bill you directly at home. You can also have the premium expense automatically withdrawn from your checking/savings account. Your coverage is portable, so if you leave your employment with PICS, you can continue paying the premium and receiving coverage!
You can choose any of the following coverage options (Please note: You are not limited to only one of these plans - you can choose all three if desired).
Accident Insurance
Available to you, your spouse/children, this plan includes coverage for initial accident care, expenses relating to common accidental injuries, surgical and hospital care, and follow-up care. It can also provide for accident-related transportation/lodging expenses, as well as benefits for accidental death and catastrophic accident expenses.
Sickness and Off-Job Accident Disability Income Rider
This rider is available only when enrolled in the Accident Insurance plan (above). It is available to you/your dependents ages 17-67 and can provide income replacement benefits if you suffer an accident or illness that results in a disability, as defined by the plan.
Cancer Insurance
Some provisions of this plan include benefits for cancer screening tests, additional invasive diagnostic procedures if needed, inpatient hospital benefits, in- or outpatient cancer treatment, transportation/lodging, surgical procedures, extended care, and initial diagnosis of skin cancer. The plan is available to you and your spouse/dependent children ages 17-67 when you are also enrolled.
Critical Illness Insurance
Benefits are available under this plan for conditions defined as a heart attack, stroke, major organ transplant, end stage renal failure, and coronary artery bypass surgery. This plan is available to you/your family members ages 16-69.
