The transportation program at PICS has over 750 active clients who are in the following programs: Elderly Waiver, CADI Waiver, TBI, CAC, AC Grant, MSHO, and Private Driver Reimbursement. The types of bus passes that PICS distributes to clients in this program include: Metro Transit 31-day SuperSaver Local, Express, Rush Hour, Non-Rush Hour, Limited Mobility, or Stored Value. Other passes available through PICS are the Metro Mobility Peak or Non-Peak coupons.
To find out if you can become authorized to receive transportation services from PICS, contact your county case manager to see if you qualify. For more information about the different bus passes, visit the Metro Transit web site.
Bus passes are mailed out monthly to clients. If the necessary paperwork is received by the 1st of the month, passes will be mailed to the client no later than the 10th of that month.
Update
Recently, PICS received notification that on October 1, 2008, the fares for Metro Transit and Metro Mobility will be increasing. This was a decision made by the Metropolitan Counsel to help reduce a projected budget shortfall for 2009.
The fare increase affects all people who ride the city bus and/or take Metro Mobility, which includes PICS customers. Fares will increase $0.25 per ride for Metro Transit bus rides and $0.50 per ride for Metro Mobility bus rides. Because of the fare increase Case Managers will need to update current service agreements to reflect the new rates. Service agreements not updated will run out of budgeted units and services will be delayed. A rate sheet is located below to assist with the calculations.
PICS has also updated the Transportation Authorization form. Effective October 1st, 2008 all other transportation authorization forms will no longer be accepted. Download the new form below to ensure timely processing.
